Sheryl Sandberg
BusinessWeek recently called Facebook Chief Operations Officer’s Sandberg Mark Zuckerberg’s “adult supervision.” The Wall Street Journal says she has “discreet charm.” And that strategy is credited with helping her excel at the formidable task of taking Zuckerberg’s ideas and keeping them profitable (and from expanding the company too quickly, which is a feat in and of itself). Prior to Facebook, Sandberg was vice president of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google. Before that she served as chief of staff for the US Department of the Treasury. But this mom of two makes our list for encouraging women to make bold choices and not turn away from their careers in anticipation of having kids: “Put your foot on that gas pedal and keep it there until the day you have to make a decision, and then make a decision. That’s the only way, when that day comes, you'll even have a decision to make.”
