Karlyn is a CEO of a non-profit, an Assistant United States Attorney, a caring wife, and the loving mother of a two-year old daughter. Her compassion and strong belief in gender and income equality led her to cofound the non-profit Astrient Foundation. As CEO of the Astrient Foundation, Karlyn initiated the Astrient Foundation’s Women’s Forum. The Women’s Forum is held periodically in Accra, Ghana and helps develop and inspire young African women. In addition to the Women’s Forum, Karlyn’s Foundation has provided college scholarships to African students and organized donations to youth organizations such as the Shelter for Abused Children in Accra. She is also a champion of Human Rights, most noticeably serving as the first Intermittent Legal Advisor on Human Trafficking for the U.S. in Ghana and currently provides legal training and guidance on the prosecution of human traffickers in Ghana. Karlyn strives for excellence in her career and at home. In her legal career, she is a renowned attorney who has successful prosecuted many large cases including the recent multi-million forfeiture from Ocean Bank for criminal violations as mentioned in the Wall Street Journal (online 8/22/11). Through her charity, commitment to justice, and her dedication to family, Karlyn is not just a mom that is helping to change our world, but also a mom who already has.
