  • If it wasn’t for the sheer loving acceptance Amanda showed my unborn child and myself before she even meet us I’m not sure where I might be today.

Amanda and I started communicating after I was told about her website and blog. My unborn child had been diagnosied with spinal bifida…the doctor that veiwed the sonogram gave us the most grueling and unhopeful news about our child…he was trying to get me to have an amnio done right then and was also telling me he would have an appoinment schedule in the next few days to have the pregnency terminated!!! We were so stressed and bewildered with what the Doctor was telling us that at least God gave us enough sense to back away and leave the hospital so we could comprehend what was going on. During the next hours and days that followed life seemed so unbearable.

If it had not been for Amanda’s unselfishness and openness about her expereinces with Spina Bifida and her willingness to take me under her wings and be a positive role model and mentor for me I honestly know I would have given up.

Amanda engulfs her life with positive energy…negative things can be surrounding herself or others and she can find the warmest words or she can take up her camara and capture a snap shot that turns the negative into a positive inspiring emotion!!! She loves her family and loves the work she does in support of education, photograghy, mentoring, and volunteering.

I truely believe Amanda is the pivotal picture of someone who is changing peoples lives with her loving heart and compassion!!!! God has blessed me and many others by having our paths meet with Amanda’s!!!

  • Awesome! Amanda’s giving nature is nothing new. When I meet her during high school in 1993 it was evident that she would be doing great things with her life. Always putting others first…and she’s still doing the same thing. I am so proud of her. She is a true inspiration and the ideal picture of strength!

  • I only know Amanda as a student but she is always doing something for others. Her photography is amazing and her children are her passion. She is an inspiration to all women mothers and non mothers alike. She is passionate about her children, her work, her life and I’ve only had one class with her! She is truly out to change our world.

  • Amanda is my sister and I cannot think of anyone more deserving than her to win. She does so much for so many I do not see how she has anytime for herself. Having a son born with spina bifida has made her even stronger and if it was possible an even better mom. She has not let her or his adversities stop her her charity work with spina bifida and now I lay me down to sleep has been nothing short of remarkable. The fact that she blogs through all of this is so inspiring I wonder if she fully realizes the effect of her powerful words and her ability to allow herself to be so honest and vulnerable thru her blog I am sure it has given many families so much insight and strength. I am honored to call her my sister and can only wish to inspire others as she has inspired me.

  • Amanda and I met by a small chance. The night I found out that my unborn child may have something wrong with him, I googled Spina Bifida, and found Amanda’s blog. I then found out, both of our son’s had been diagnosed the same day. We leaned on each other through tons of emails, and support throughout our pregnancies. Amanda is an inspiration to me because of her talents and abilities to try to look at the positive side of things. I can tell through her photography, she really cares for her family. She always puts them first, and is very proactive in charities. I hope that one day our son’s can meet.

  • When I read about this competition I immediately voted for Amanda. Amanda and I served in the military together. Not only is Amanda a strong, courageous, loving mother, but she is someone in the entire time I (and my daughter) have been reading her blog about the trials that havebeen put before her and her family; has always stayed positive. I believe Amanda should win this, Amanda spends her free time giving back to others. To base a competition solely on number of votes and popularity is not the way to find a true, deserving individual to receive this money. It should be based on who these people truly are and out in the ‘community truly making a difference and GIVING back to the community. (to include) no affiliations with the company that is sponsoring this ‘mominations’. I truly believe this money could not be given to a more deserving person.

  • Amanda pours her heart and soul into her family, friends, teachings, schooling, charity work, and everything else she finds time to be involved in. While others may be resting she can’t help but keep on doing what she does best… everything! Amanda has touched my life as a friend and mentor on many occasions for the better part of a decade and I’ve seen her continue to be an inspirational mother not only amongst her family but to all those around her. There is no challenge to great for this Supermom!
