Band Back Together is a group blog created by Aunt Becky from Mommy Wants Vodka for anyone to share their stories. Following the birth of her daughter with a neural tube defect, she realized how little information was out there. Or information about post-traumatic stress disorder, something that kept her up night after night. A humorish blogger for many years, she wrote her heart out at Mommy Wants Vodka. People she'd never heard from began to send me emails, comments, and opened up about their own struggles. The seed was planted in September 2010 to create a site where anyone can share stories, in a moderated, safe environment. Resource pages have been created with as many topics as she and The Band can conceive (and still ongoing). It is a place we can Band Back Together – to realize we are none of us alone – and to support each other through the ups-and-downs of life.

Aunt Becky has helped me through the loss of my best friend, wife and mother of my three beautiful children. It has been a whirlwind, and, I’ve avoided being a complete trainwreck by being able to release my experiences on Band Back Together. The support received on that website has been a tremendous help! Thank you Aunt Becky!

If I could nominate for sainthood this woman would be on the top of the list! She has taken her own valuable time and created a warm and inviting space for so many survivors. She has given us a place to vent our pain and frustration while getting so much feedback and support from like minded people! Aunty Becky today I start my work on making purple a flavor!

I haven’t suffered a loss nor needed the support of BBT, but I know this: Becky shares of herself with fearless raw emotion. And that’s inspiring as hell. Her secrets, her struggles, her naked insights are conveyed without any filter or veil. And that honesty is rare as hell. When she wants to, she can shift from raw and vulnerable to raw and raunchy. And then she’s funny as hell.

I don’t think that it is possible to say in one little comment how much good this woman has done. How many of us have a single-focused hurt? Not damn many of us. I’m a mom who has a son with Down syndrome and a son with a congenital heart defect. Same son. I had to choose which part of him I needed support on before, but Band Back Together changed all that. One place to go no matter what the issue. One place where everyone, whether they are on your exact path or not, is there to be supportive and help you stand when you think you can’t anymore. Aunt Becky made that dream a real place. I *would* vote for her for President. There is no way she wouldn’t succeed at that too, and improve all of our lives in the process. THAT’S WHAT SHE DOES. With glitter.
