When Courtney's son, Tripp, was born with Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB, a skin disease that causes blisters on the body anywhere the body experiences friction, this young mother showed a level of patience and courage that is as extraordinary as it is inspiring. One read of her blog, and we understood instantly why Courtney gathered more votes in Mominations than any other nominee: She displays the kind of loyalty and compassion on her worst days that we wish we had on our best, and she has never once lost sight of the personality of the little boy battling this disease. Thank you, Courtney, for showing us the depth of a mother's love, and inspiring us to be our better selves.

"I will donate my $5,000 prize to DebRA of America. DebRA is the charitable organization for Epidermolysis Bullosa (the rare, genetic skin disease that my son Tripp has) that is committed to funding research toward a cure for EB, and they also respond to the increased need to provide direct services to patients and their families (like us). I am very thankful to this organization and the help they provided us with when my son was born and I knew nothing about this horrible disease. It would be my pleasure to be able to give back to DebRA in this way!" — Courtney Roth
